A Passion for Pain?

On March 17, 2010, in Be Passionate, by Bonnie Jean Schaefer

I just started a super intense fitness program on Monday.  I’m only three days into it, and I am hurting from head to toe.

Which makes me happy.  Because I’ve got a passion for pain.

Well, I don’t really enjoy being in pain, but I know this soreness is a result of me challenging myself to reach a new level of fitness.  The more fit I am, the more prepared I’ll be to compete in some upcoming road races I have planned.

That’s what I’m really passionate about:  being fit and being competitive.  The way I express that passion is through my challenging workouts and racing against the clock in 5k’s, 10k’s, half-marathons, etc.  The race I’m training for now is a 15k trail run in June.

Fitness and athletic competition is only one area of my life, however.  So tomorrow I’ll share with you another passion I have as well as how I’m expressing that passion right now.

In the meantime, think about your own level of fitness.  Whether you’re an athlete like me or not, exercise should be an important part of your lifestyle.  So find a form of exercise that gets you excited and allows you to express your passion for being fit and healthy.

Because the more fit and healthy you are, the more energy you have to focus on living your dreams.

To your dreams,
Bonnie Jean

Tonite I went to Starbucks and wrote for a while about things I know about myself – my likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, etc. I ended up with five pages and it really helped me to see what I need to do to get healther in all areas of my life.

I am going to start tomorrow with getting up and doing a workout BEFORE work and having things ready for lunch, etc tonite since I am not good at planning things out in the morning. I have written out a schedule for exercise this week-it is a struggle for me to stick to a certain program or schedule, but I will do it in a way that will work for me. If for some reason I have trouble getting up one morning – I will not beat myself up about it. I will just exercise at lunch or after work. My baseline for exercise is at least 3 days a week, 15 minutes a day. Then it is a plus when I do more.

    Will keep you posted.
