Did you know that your life is your choice?

So what do you choose to do with your life? Who do you want to be? What do you want to do? Where do you want to go?

What if you could live with unshakable confidence in yourself? How would you feel? What would you be confident about? What if you were confident about your school work? The sports you play? The hobbies you have? What if you believed in yourself enough to always walk into the cafeteria with your head held high, never wondering what other kids were thinking about you? What if you believed in yourself enough to speak in front of people, to see how valuable you are as a person, to try anything you set your mind to? What does your life feel like when you live with unshakable confidence?

Now can you imagine having the power to dream up unbreakable dreams? How do you feel when you have the confidence to set goals and chase those goals knowing you have what it takes to make your dreams happen? What would you have the courage to try? What actions would you take everyday knowing your dreams are unbreakable? What does your life feel like now when you unshakable and unbreakable?

Can you add the final piece of the puzzle: unstoppable success? How much more confident do you become when no obstacle stands in your way? What goals do you achieve? How does it feel to get what you want? Be yourself? Be trustworthy? Be passionate? Be focused? Be involved? How does it feel to always find a way to do what you dream? What do you have? What results do you get? What thoughts do you think? What beliefs do you believe? What feelings do you feel? What words do you say? What actions do you take?

Ready to put the whole picture together?

You feel secure in who you are. You believe you are valuable and special. You believe you are worth being around. You believe you can make your own choices, choose your own future, control your own life. You still respect your parents, teachers and friends, but you also respect yourself enough to stand up for yourself, to do what is right over what is easy or popular, to say what you mean, to be honest, to be strong.

You set goals and achieve them. You enjoy the results. You get the best grades you are capable of getting. You excel in your activities. You always give your best and you find that one thing you’re better at than everyone else around. You find a way to shine, you find friends to belong with, you are you through and through.

That’s what your life looks like when you are an Unshakable, Unbreakable, Unstoppable Dream Doer. That what your life feels like when you always find a way to do what you dream.

But how do you get there? How do you find your unshakable confidence? How do you dream up unbreakable dreams? How do you live with unstoppable success?

Stay tuned because the answers are coming…

To your dreams,
Bonnie Jean

You ever wonder what confidence is?

Well, I was wondering that exact same thing today, so I went and looked up the definition of confidence in the dictionary. This is what I found:

Full trust; belief in the powers, trustworthiness, or reliability of a person or thing

Belief in oneself and one’s powers or abilities

Trust or faith in a person or thing

A feeling of assurance, especially self-assurance

The state or quality of being certain

In other words, confidence is a feeling you get when you learn to trust and believe in yourself.

But how do you learn how to trust and believe in yourself?

Is that something you can buy, get or take from other people?

NO!

Confidence is something you have to build on your own, and the only way to build confidence in yourself is to TAKE ACTION!

If you want to gain confidence in your ability to play a sport, you have to actually practice that sport.

If you want to gain confidence in your ability to sing, you have to actually practice singing.

If you want to gain confidence in your ability to make money, you have to actually do the work it takes to make money.

Of course taking action and DOING these things that you want to do when you don’t have any confidence in your ability to do them well is tough.

The weird and wacky truth, however, is that if you’re willing to first be really bad at something and keep practicing even when you don’t believe in yourself, you’ll soon gain UNSHAKABLE self-confidence.

By just taking action toward your dreams, you’ll learn how to trust and believe in yourself.

Personally, I want to build confidence in my ability to write novels, so I’m going to go practice my writing.

What about you? What action can you take RIGHT NOW to help you build your self-confidence?

Great. Now go DO it!

To your dreams,
Bonnie Jean

It’s Find a Way to Do What You Dream Day!

Finding a way to do what you dream starts with you being a person of great character. Being a person of great character involves being trustworthy, being passionate and being focused.

To be trustworthy, passionate and focused, you must develop 12 core ‘champion’ traits. Last week, we talked about unleashing your creativity.

Today, we’re going to talk about the fourth characteristic that comes from the heart and sets Champion Dream Doers apart from Normalites: COURAGE.

Why should you advance with courage?

You should be courageous because it takes courage to live your dreams.

You can be passionate and enthusiastic and creative, but if you don’t take that last step and advance toward your dreams with courage, you’ll always be too scared to break through your comfort zones and do what you dream.

What is courage?

Courage is taking bold action in spite of fear. That means that you move forward toward your dreams even when you’re scared. You recognize your fear, face it and deal with it instead of hiding from it and waiting for that fear to go away before you take any action.

In a nutshell, courage is faith. Without faith, fear wins. You have to believe that the next step you take—no matter how painful, difficult or challenging you think that step will be—you have to believe that step will give you the results you want: living your dreams.

And it’s always easier to be courageous when you’ve unleashed your creativity, which is why we talked about your creativity last week.

How can you advance toward your dreams with courage?

To help you advance with courage, follow these steps:

Write down one dream you feel the most passionate about.

Finish this sentence: I feel scared or nervous when I think about living this dream because ______________________.

Answer this question: why should I chase this dream even though I’m scared or nervous? Then take the action that scares you!

What can you do NOW to be courageous?

Practice being courageous by doing something right now that makes you feel uncomfortable or scared or nervous. For instance, if you’re not used to telling your friends or family about your dreams, face that fear and tell them anyway!

The more you practice being courageous with simple things, the easier it will become to be courageous with bigger things, like taking action that helps you live your dreams instead of just keeping your dreams in your head.

Then next week, we’ll begin to discuss the traits you need to develop that help you become mentally tough. We’ll start with the first part of Dream Doer Rule #4: clarify your FOCUS.

Until next time, remember that you always find a way to do what you dream when you stick to your strengths.

To Your Dreams,
Bonnie Jean

It’s Find a Way to Do What You Dream Day!

This is “Find a Way to Do What YOU Dream Day.”

It’s not find a way to do what your friends dream.

It’s not find a way to do what your brothers or sisters dream.

It’s not find a way to do what your parents dream.

It’s not find a way to do what your teachers dream.

It’s not even find a way to do what your coaches dream.

It’s find a way to do what YOU dream.

To find a way to do what you dream, you have to start with rule number of the Dream Doer League: Be Yourself. That means you need to look in the mirror and be true to who you are.

What BE YOURSELF Does NOT Mean

Just so we’re clear, being yourself does NOT give you permission to do whatever you want whenever you want.

If you’re still living at home with your parents, you have to respect them and follow their rules.

If you’re still going to school, you have to respect your teachers, follow their rules and do the work they assign.

That’s all just part of being a responsible young adult. The really cool bonus is that when you respect your parents and teachers and other adults in authority, they’ll respect you, too and want to help you find a way to live your dreams.

What BE YOURSELF Does Mean

Now being yourself DOES mean you can choose how you think, how you feel, what you say and what you do.

It DOES mean you can choose to discover your God-given talents and use those talents to follow your dreams.

Whether you realize it yet or not, you are great at something. It could be a sport, a subject in school, a hobby you enjoy or a character trait you have developed.

When you figure out what it is you love to do AND have the natural ability to do it well, that’s when you are yourself. That’s when you have the power to find a way to do what you dream.

Being yourself is only the beginning of your path to unshakable confidence, unbreakable dreams and unstoppable success. You also need to be trustworthy, be passionate, be focused and be involved in order to find a way to do what you dream.

So in next week’s post, we’ll talk more about rule #2: Be Trustworthy.

Until then, remember, you always find a way to do what you dream when you stick to your strengths.

To your dreams,

Unshakable, Unbreakable, Unstoppable Stories

Making friends in a new school is tough, but it’s doubly tough when you are shy and unsure of yourself. I should know. When I was in the fourth grade, I started a new school.

I was a quiet kid with an active imagination. But when I went to school, I kept my imagination in check, talked only when the teacher called on me and quietly did my work.

My teacher liked me because I was quiet and did my work, but the other kids in the class called me the teacher’s pet. The fact that I had to wear a retainer to straighten my crooked front teeth didn’t help and made me feel self-conscious about the way I looked.

At lunch time, I would walk into the cafeteria with my head down so I wouldn’t see the popular girls pointing at me. I could still hear them, though. I could hear them whispering and giggling and making fun of my clothes or my hair or me.

They made me feel ugly and awkward and out of place. It’s hard to be confident in yourself when you feel that way.

I wanted to be able to walk into the cafeteria with my head held high and not wonder what people were saying about me. I wanted to be able to sit with the popular girls, wear stylish, cool clothes and fit in.

What I didn’t understand was that even though I wasn’t as pretty or popular or stylish as the cool crowd, I didn’t need to be beautiful to be confident. I didn’t have to let my crooked front teeth or my frizzy brown hair keep me from feeling confident about myself. I had the power to believe in myself no matter what I looked like.

What I didn’t realize was that the popular girls had to make fun of people like me so they could feel better about themselves because they had no real self-confidence either.

Still, it’s no fun being the social outcast. I went through my entire fourth grade year without making any friends. In the fifth grade, though, that changed.

A scary moment came early in the year when the teacher told us to trade papers and grade each other’s tests. I looked to my right and my left, but all the kids overlooked me and traded with each other. Then a girl a few desks over handed me her paper. Someone offered to trade with me!

I learned her name, started eating lunch with her and hanging out with her at recess. She was the first friend I made in that school, and we’re still friends today.

She didn’t care what I looked like, but she cared about me. I could be myself around her, and she could be herself around me. When you feel comfortable enough to be yourself around your friends, you start to believe in yourself and gain the confidence you need to do what you dream.

So don’t let the cool kids make you feel uncool. If you’re one of the cool kids, don’t judge people by their appearance. Whether you’re ‘cool’ or ‘uncool,’ you’re special because of who you are, not how many friends you have, what others think of you or how you dress.

Learn to believe in who you are, and that starts by discovering your strengths. When you learn what you’re better at than anyone else, that is the foundation of your unshakable confidence.

It’s Find a Way to Do What You Dream Day!

It took me nine years to write and publish my first novel. NINE years!

You’d think after taking that long to make my dream of publishing a book happen, I’d want to tell anybody and everybody about it. But you’d be wrong. Although it’s been published for more than a year now, I’ve been secretly terrified to tell people like you it even exists.

Sharing my story scared me because I was missing something important: a little thing called confidence. Once I figured out I needed to find my confidence in order to achieve my dream of becoming a #1 best-selling author, I started doing some research. What I learned is helping me develop unshakable confidence so I can dream up unbreakable dreams and live with unstoppable success.

You deserve to be an unshakable, unbreakable, unstoppable Dream Doer, too. To get there, though, you first need to be aware of the top five things that can kill your confidence when you’re a young adult. Because if your confidence is dead, so are your dreams.

#5: Overprotective Parents

Let’s get started with confidence killer number five: overprotective parents. This one’s a tough one because the only reason your parents are overprotective is because they love you.

On the one hand, you’re trying to grow up and be independent, which means you want them to treat you like the adult you are becoming. On the other hand, your parents have already done the growing up thing and want to protect you from all the dangers that come with growing up, which means they might nag you too much or not give you enough space.

And when you feel smothered, it’s hard to figure out who you are and develop confidence in yourself. So the best way to show your parents how independent you are is to choose to follow their rules—without them having to nag you. The more you respect them, the more they’ll respect you and give you the space you need.

#4: School Stress

Moving on to number four: school stress. Classes. Homework. Studying. Tests. Projects. Grades. Sports. Clubs. Concerts. Plays. Endless expectations. Does the pressure never end?

The worst part about school is being forced to study subjects you don’t even like. How are you supposed to build confidence in yourself when you’re overwhelmed by school work and activities? Well, it’s not easy, but it is possible once you learn the secrets to being a Dream Doer.

#3: Negative Peer Pressure

Confidence killer number three: negative peer pressure. It’s tempting to do things you know you shouldn’t do just so you can fit in and belong with a group of friends. But every time you give in to negative peer pressure, you lose a little piece of yourself. And that’s one of the quickest ways to kill your confidence.

#2: Invisibility

Killer number 2: invisibility. No, this doesn’t mean you’re actually invisible…’cause that would be pretty cool! What it does mean is that you can feel invisible when you see your brothers or sisters or friends or schoolmates or teammates succeed at something and be recognized for it.

And you wish you could be recognized for succeeding at something, too. You wish you could find that one thing you’re great at, that one thing you do better than anyone else. Discovering that one thing–which does exist and which you can find–is one of the quickest ways to boost your confidence.

#1: Self Image

This is a biggie: self image. Ever find yourself embarrassed or ashamed about the way you look, the way you dress or how much you weigh? Does it make you not want to walk into the cafeteria at school with your head held high because you’re afraid you’ll see kids whispering to each other about you?

I know that feeling all too well, and it is not pleasant. I once cried at a picture I saw of me in the seventh grade because I thought I looked so horribly ugly. But I’ve learned that I don’t have to be beautiful to believe in myself and my dreams because real confidence comes from the inside out, not the outside in. When you understand how great you are because of who you are, how you look or dress doesn’t seem to matter quite as much anymore.

What About You?

What about you? Which of these killers are killing your confidence?

Do you feel suffocated by overprotective parents?

Do you feel overwhelmed by school stress?

Do you give in to negative peer pressure rather than stand up for yourself?

Do you feel invisible and unrecognized?

Do you have a low self-image?

No matter which killer is killing your confidence, you can overcome it. To help, I want to give you three FREE gifts. All these gifts are waiting for you at www.TheDreamDoers.com. So click through now to claim your gifts.
