If you’re a strong Dreamer, imagining those great things is easy for you. You love to imagine who you can be. What you can do. Where you can go.

In the imagination of a Dreamer, anything is possible.

But fear makes it tough to live your dreams. Fear of the unknown. Fear of failure. Fear of success.

As long as you let that fear stop you and prevent you from becoming all that God put you on earth to become, you’ll remain just a Dreamer and never become an unshakable, unbreakable, unstoppable champion Dream Doer.

When you choose to be satisfied with who you are and just dream about the things that are possible, you’ll never find a way to do what you dream.

Maybe, however, you’re a strong Doer. For you, taking action is easy. You’re always on the go and doing something. You are constantly busy.

But you may not always be busy doing something productive because of distractions. Lack of focus. No concentration.

Because even though you do things, you don’t really get anywhere. You just move from one thing to the next without planning or stopping to really dream of the possibilities life has to offer.

So Dreamers dream but get nothing done.

Doers do but get nowhere.

But a Dream Doer? Now you’re talking success.

A Dream Doer has the courage to imagine great things AND take action.

A Dream Doer makes the most out of life. A Dream Doer sees what she wants, believes she can get it and takes action to achieve her dreams.

A Dream Doer is a Champion.

In high school, I had fun playing three different sports (volleyball, basketball and softball) all four years.  Then I played softball in college.

After my college career ended, I discovered a new sport:  running!  Which is weird.  Because although I always had a dream of being able to run a marathon, I didn’t believe I could.  I didn’t believe I was a real runner.

Runners ran in extreme weather conditions; I ran only in bearable temperatures. Runners were fast; I was slow. Runners had runner friends; I ran alone. Runners ran in races; I ran to stay in shape. For me, a marathon seemed impossible.

Then at the end of a run one hot July afternoon, I decided I was going to do something about my dream of being a runner.  I didn’t have to be a great runner.  I just wanted to finished a marathon.  I wanted to challenge myself to achieve a dream.

I ran my first marathon four months later.  Since then, I’ve completed a handful of 5k’s, 10k’s, a half-marathon and three other marathons.

Now I have another running dream:  run a six-minute mile.  I don’t know if I’m capable of achieving that goal or not, but I’m sure going to try.

That’s the sports dream I’m chasing this year.  If you have a sports dream you’re chasing, then we should be able to help each other out. 

Every Wednesday, I’ll share what I’m doing to stay fit and achieve my goal.  I’ll also share some ‘mental game’ tips and strategies that you can put to work for you to become a CHAMPION in whatever sport you play.

Anytime I was alone, I had a blast pretending I was a character in one of my stories. That was my idea of FUN, especially since my characters lived exciting, adventurous, action-packed lives.

The only problem was that I didn’t have the confidence or courage I needed to admit to anyone I wanted to be a writer. After all, who was I to think I could write something others would enjoy reading? I was just me–quiet, shy, strange little me.

Some things, though, were too good not to write down. Only I hid everything I wrote. I didn’t want anyone to think I thought I was a writer. I was just me–quiet, shy, strange little me–not somebody important enough to be a writer.

I didn’t chase my dream back then because I didn’t think I was allowed to be a writer. I thought someone had to give me permission to be who I wanted to be and do what I wanted to do. I thought I had to wait until I was all grown up to even think about living my dreams.

I was totally, completely, 100% WRONG.

No matter how old you are, if you want to be a writer, all you have to do is START WRITING!

To prove it, I’m going to start writing my second novel today. And I’m going to invite you along for the whole novel writing journey.

Every Tuesday, I’ll update you on my book writing progress and share my writing tips, secrets and strategies with you. That way you can write your own story alongside me and start living your writing dream NOW.

For instance, here are the tools I use to write a novel:

• A computer (for typing)
• A pen (for writing in my notebook and on index cards)
• A notebook (for brainstorming story, character and setting ideas)
• Colored index cards (for summarizing each scene)
• My unique imagination (for making stuff up)

And here’s how I use my tools:

• First, I use my imagination to make up characters and picture where they go, what they do and what they say.
• Second, I use the index cards to summarize where I see them going, what I see them doing and what I hear them saying.
• Finally, I’ll use my notebook or computer to write the details. (Sometimes I feel like writing the story in my notebook and sometimes I feel like just typing it on the computer.)

I’ll imagine a few scenes worth of action, summarize on the index cards what I see in my mind and write out the details in story format.  Then I just keep repeating the process until the story I want to tell is over.

P.S. Here’s another tip: let yourself write a really, really, really bad first draft (which is what I’m doing with the draft I’m starting today). You can always go back and make it better, but it’s way too easy to get stuck and not write anything if you’re trying to write a great first draft. Letting yourself write badly takes the pressure off and makes writing more fun.

I didn’t quite reach my goal today.  Even though I took action and did something about my dreams, I didn’t accomplish everything I wanted to accomplish.  Still, I’m proud of myself for trying. 

Anytime you try your best to reach a goal but just don’t quite get the results you want, you can be proud of yourself, too!

What I wanted to do was record and share a video with you that reveals my super simple confidence building formula.  Well, I got the video recorded, but I didn’t factor in some important time-consuming steps (like editing and uploading) that would allow me to share the video with you today.

See, I’m good at the creative stuff that goes into a video like writing and speaking, but I’m not so good at the technical stuff like recording and editing.  So I’m stuck on the editing part of the video right now.

Since it’s getting late and I’m nowhere close to finishing, I’m going to rest up, get some sleep and tackle the editing again tomorrow.  My goal is to have it done by the end of the day tomorrow, and I think that is a goal I can reach.

Enough about me.  What did you do today to live your dreams?

After spending most of the day yesterday doing work for my job, I was determined to find a way to live my dreams today by doing work for YOU.  I wanted to finish the script for the video I’m working on that reveals my super simple formula for gaining confidence fast.

So once I got home from my job and did a workout to give me a much needed energy boost, I fired up the computer and got to work.  I wrote and edited and rewrote and edited some more.  I kept at it until I…finished!

I’m quite excited about recording the video for you tomorrow, and I can’t wait for you to see it.

Ever feel like you have no control over your own life?  Like you have no freedom?  Like you have to spend your time doing what other people tell you to, not what YOU want to do?

I had one of those days today.

After I got home from work, I spent the rest of my day working on a project for work that had to be done by 6:00 tomorrow morning.

I wanted to spend the rest of my day writing and editing a script so that I could be ready to record a video for you tomorrow that reveals my super simple confidence building formula. 

But by the time I finished my work project, I was too tired to get any quality writing or editing done on the script.  Grrr…

Still, I wanted to find a way to do something I WANTED TO DO today, something I had control over, something I chose to do that would be a way for me to live my dreams.

Otherwise I would go to bed all frustrated.  Then I would wake up feeling all grumpy.  And that would be a lousy start to a fresh new day.

So I made a choice to write this blog entry.  This is what I consider fun and enjoyable.  This is me living my dreams. 

And now that I’m coming to the end of this entry, I no longer feel out of control, frustrated and annoyed that I had to spend my day doing what my boss needed me to do.  I remembered that I am a Champion Dream Doer, and that I always find a way to do what I dream—no matter what.

Today was a little weird for me because I didn’t work on my book. 

Since I finished the summary draft on Saturday, I’m making myself take a break from writing before I begin the real rough draft on February 1.  Then I’ll have exactly ten weeks to write a complete 250-page draft.

But writing my book isn’t the only dream I’m chasing right now.  I also want to be your coach and build a business that helps you live your dreams.

That’s why I spent today writing about the secret to being a Champion Dream Doer.

That secret is hidden in one little word: CONFIDENCE!

When you’re confident, you’re free to be yourself and just be true to who you are.

When you’re confident, you’re able to find where you belong because you attract people to you who share your same interests and goals.

When you’re confident, you feel in control of your own life.

When you’re confident, you have the power to choose your own future.

When you’re confident, you know how to find a way to live your dreams NOW!

The good news is that I’ve discovered a super simple confidence building formula that I’m almost ready to reveal to you via video.

I’m still working on the script, but I’m getting close to finishing.  To make sure I finish, I have only one target this week: 

• Write, record and share a video with you that reveals the super simple confidence building formula

I should be able to finish writing it tomorrow, record it on Wednesday and share it with you on Thursday.

I’ll start by sharing some ways I succeeded in doing what I dream this week.  I set three main goals for myself on Monday.  This is what they were:

• Write at least 25 pages on my novel.
• Run three 8:00-minute miles on Saturday.
• Record a video for you that shares my secret confidence building formula.

Here’s what I actually accomplished:

• I wrote 32 pages of my novel (I wrote the final five pages today) and FINISHED the complete ‘summary draft’ I wanted to have done by today!
• I ran three sprint miles today in 7:53, 8:01 and 8:03.  (Although I didn’t quite hit this target, I gave my all and did my best; I consider that a super success.  I also know I can do better by working to improve my fitness level.)
• I didn’t get the video recorded, but that will be at the TOP of my list next week.

Yesterday I had trouble focusing while writing my novel, so before I started writing today, I took a little time to think about what I’m passionate about and why I even enjoy writing. 

Here’s where my thoughts took me:  I am passionate about writing fiction.  When I write fiction, it’s like I can transport myself to another place and see into the minds of other people.  I get to feel what they’re feeling and hear what they’re hearing.  It’s just a fun process.

That’s what I forgot about yesterday.  The process.  I was thinking so much about what I wanted to get done that I forgot I enjoy doing the work it takes to get the results I want!

Although I didn’t start writing until 10:00pm tonight because of a busy day, I was much more focused and had much more fun writing today.  I ended up writing five pages in 37 minutes because I was passionate about what I was doing, and that helped me concentrate my complete attention on the task at hand.

I completed my mission by spending an hour writing my novel tonight.  I wrote five pages and 1,482 words in that hour.  But I’m not thrilled with my results because I know I could have done better.

Here’s why.  I didn’t give 100% of my attention to my writing tonight.  I kept thinking about random things that happened earlier today or things I wanted to do tomorrow.  I didn’t concentrate all my attention on the task at hand.

In other words, I just went through the motions of writing rather than doing the very best I was capable of doing.

At least I know what I need to work on tomorrow:  FOCUS!

Besides, writing is more fun when I’m focused.  When I’m focused, I feel energized and excited as I write.  I also feel like I’m a part of the story I’m writing.  I missed that feeling today.
