My best success in my life so far has been having five great children and watching them grow into amazing adults (to put it mildly).

It made me feel great to go back to school when I was 38 to become an accountant and have a skill I could use. It was especially great to graduate!

I have been telling myself that I can't be a writer, since it will take so much time and so much effort. I don't even know if I have the kind of imagination that I need.

But I just need to start writing. I did start writing on my blog tonite again, and I am going to start writing by using a story idea in Stephen King's book, On Writing. It may not be much tonite, but it is a start.

Tonite I went to Starbucks and wrote for a while about things I know about myself - my likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, etc. I ended up with five pages and it really helped me to see what I need to do to get healther in all areas of my life.

I am going to start tomorrow with getting up and doing a workout BEFORE work and having things ready for lunch, etc tonite since I am not good at planning things out in the morning. I have written out a schedule for exercise this week-it is a struggle for me to stick to a certain program or schedule, but I will do it in a way that will work for me. If for some reason I have trouble getting up one morning - I will not beat myself up about it. I will just exercise at lunch or after work. My baseline for exercise is at least 3 days a week, 15 minutes a day. Then it is a plus when I do more.

Will keep you posted.

Good ideas! Will try that this week.

By the way - please see if you, Laurie and Julie can take a few minutes to read my stories this week. Your opinions will help me a lot - I just need to know if I have any hope of being a good writer.

[...] Last week we talked about making your characters seem as real as possible. I explained that one way to do that is to give them a past by writing some super short stories about things that have happened to your characters before the story starts. These aren’t stories anyone will read; they’re stories to write so YOU get to know your characters better.
