Meet Randaru Rebnitch, ‘Sun Photographer’

On August 26, 2009, in Fun Fiction, Motivating Stories, by Bonnie Jean Schaefer

It’s Weirdo Friends Day!

Welcome to another wacky, totally fictional interview of a ‘Weirdo Friend.’ Today’s story features Randaru Rebnitch, sun photographer. (Video of this interview is coming soon…)

*****

RANDARU: Randaru Rebnitch here, ready to answer your questions. But I don’t have a lot of time. The sun will be setting soon. What do you want to know?

Bonnie Jean: What is your BIG DREAM?

RANDARU: That’s easy. I want to be a sun photographer. I want to take pictures of sunrises and sunsets and have my pictures hang in hospitals and dentists offices and hotels all over the world.

Bonnie Jean: How are you going to live your dream?

RANDARU: I don’t know. I like dreaming about taking pictures of the sun because it makes the sky look awesome when it rises and sets. But I’ve never actually taken any pictures of the sunrise or sunset. That’s why I joined the Dream Doer League and am going to play the Champion Creator Game.

Bonnie Jean: What is the Champion Creator Game?

RANDARU: It’s a confidence-building, goal-setting, action-packed game that teaches you how to live like a champion and do what you dream. You get five practice missions every day, and then a game to play every week, just like the characters in The Dream Doers and the Summer of Secrets.

See, I’m tired of just dreaming about being a great sun photographer; I want to do something about it. If you have a dream you want to do something about you, you should join the Dream Doer League and play the game, too.

The sun’s starting to set. I gotta go watch it. Later!

*****

We’ll check back in with Randaru in a few weeks to see if she’s making any progress toward achieving her goals. She does have a few weird quirks (which you’ll be able to see in the video of the interview that’s coming soon), but as long as she follows through with the missions, she’ll be able to find a way to do what she dreams.

Weird quirks or not, you can find a way to do what you dream, too. Life is really much more fun when you set goals and take action to make them happen. So…

Join the Dream Doer League. Play The Champion Creator Game. And DO what you DREAM!

To Your Dreams,

Bonnie Jean

P.S. Stay tuned for details about how you can play The Champion Creator Game. (‘Randaru’ may be made up, but the game is REAL!)  Until then, enjoy listening to the entire bestselling young adult novel The Dream Doers and the Summer of Secrets by clicking here!

Episode 2 of Unshakable, Unbreakable, Unstoppable Stories with Bonnie Jean

Bonnie Jean Schaefer here, author of The Dream Doers and the Summer of Secrets

I was a senior in college the day I decided to pursue my big dream of being a writer.  I bought this blue notebook at the convenience store across the street from the college and started scribbling book ideas in it.  Once I had the characters and storyline set, I began writing the first draft in this very notebook.

A year and a half later, I finished the first complete draft.  I printed it out and started reading it, certain it was going to be the best book ever.

It wasn’t.  Actually, it was really, really, really, really, really TERRIBLE.  So I put it aside, bought another notebook and started rewriting the entire story.

Two years later, I had another draft I was certain was good.  So I printed it out and read through it.  It was better, and by better I mean it was just really, really terrible.

So I put it aside, bought another notebook and started rewriting the entire story.

Two more years later, I ended up with complete draft number three.  This time it was just bad.  So I put it aside, bought another notebook and started rewriting the entire story.

One year later, in the fall of 2005, I finally had what I believed was an excellent story.  So before I printed out the entire manuscript, I started shopping for an agent…and found one who wanted to read the first 50 pages.  I printed them out and kept a copy for myself.

Then two things happened that made me not want to have this agent or any other agent represent me.  One was that I just didn’t want to go about getting my book published in the normal way with a regular publisher.  You see, I’m not just a writer, I’m an entrepreneur; I wanted to start my own publishing company so I could publish my own books whenever I wanted.

The second reason I couldn’t let this agent represent me was because the story was all wrong.  I realized that the book that I just spent six and a half years writing was actually the LAST book in the Dream Doers series.

I wanted to start at the beginning of the series, so I put all that work aside, bought another notebook and some index cards and started writing the story from scratch.

After three and a half years of writing, editing and rewriting, I finally finished a complete draft.

I was teaching high school English at the time, so my students edited the book for me and gave me their feedback.  I’ve got to admit that watching them read my story and comment on it made me quite nervous.  Much to my relief, though, they liked it and had lots of good things to say about it.

They also had some constructive criticism for me, which I appreciated.  I made some big changes to the story based on their feedback, then did what I’ve been dreaming of doing my entire life:  I published my book.

In next week’s episode, I’ll share what happened after I published it and why seeing it on the Amazon bestseller list freaked me out so much that I stopped promoting it altogether!

Please don’t wait as long as I did to start living your dreams!  Life is really much more fun when you set goals and take action to make them happen.  No matter how old you are, you can be an unshakable, unbreakable, unstoppable Dream Doer today!

It’s Find a Way to Do What You Dream Day!

It took me nine years to write and publish my first novel.  NINE years!

You’d think after taking that long to make my dream of publishing a book happen, I’d want to tell anybody and everybody about it.  But you’d be wrong.  Although it’s been published for more than a year now, I’ve been secretly terrified to tell people like you it even exists.

Sharing my story scared me because I was missing something important:  a little thing called confidence.  Once I figured out I needed to find my confidence in order to achieve my dream of becoming a #1 best-selling author, I started doing some research.  What I learned is helping me develop unshakable confidence so I can dream up unbreakable dreams and live with unstoppable success.

You deserve to be an unshakable, unbreakable, unstoppable Dream Doer, too.  To get there, though, you first need to be aware of the top five things that can kill your confidence when you’re a young adult.  Because if your confidence is dead, so are your dreams.

#5:  Overprotective Parents

Let’s get started with confidence killer number five:  overprotective parents.  This one’s a tough one because the only reason your parents are overprotective is because they love you.

On the one hand, you’re trying to grow up and be independent, which means you want them to treat you like the adult you are becoming.  On the other hand, your parents have already done the growing up thing and want to protect you from all the dangers that come with growing up, which means they might nag you too much or not give you enough space.

And when you feel smothered, it’s hard to figure out who you are and develop confidence in yourself.  So the best way to show your parents how independent you are is to choose to follow their rules—without them having to nag you.  The more you respect them, the more they’ll respect you and give you the space you need.

#4:  School Stress

Moving on to number four:  school stress.  Classes.  Homework.  Studying.  Tests.  Projects.  Grades.  Sports.  Clubs.  Concerts.  Plays.  Endless expectations.  Does the pressure never end?

The worst part about school is being forced to study subjects you don’t even like.  How are you supposed to build confidence in yourself when you’re overwhelmed by school work and activities?  Well, it’s not easy, but it is possible once you learn the secrets to being a Dream Doer.

#3:  Negative Peer Pressure

Confidence killer number three:  negative peer pressure.  It’s tempting to do things you know you shouldn’t do just so you can fit in and belong with a group of friends.  But every time you give in to negative peer pressure, you lose a little piece of yourself.  And that’s one of the quickest ways to kill your confidence.

#2:  Invisibility

Killer number 2:  invisibility.  No, this doesn’t mean you’re actually invisible…’cause that would be pretty cool!  What it does mean is that you can feel invisible when you see your brothers or sisters or friends or schoolmates or teammates succeed at something and be recognized for it.

And you wish you could be recognized for succeeding at something, too.  You wish you could find that one thing you’re great at, that one thing you do better than anyone else.  Discovering that one thing–which does exist and which you can find–is one of the quickest ways to boost your confidence.

#1:  Self Image

This is a biggie:  self image.  Ever find yourself embarrassed or ashamed about the way you look, the way you dress or how much you weigh?  Does it make you not want to walk into the cafeteria at school with your head held high because you’re afraid you’ll see kids whispering to each other about you?

I know that feeling all too well, and it is not pleasant.  I once cried at a picture I saw of me in the seventh grade because I thought I looked so horribly ugly.  But I’ve learned that I don’t have to be beautiful to believe in myself and my dreams because real confidence comes from the inside out, not the outside in.  When you understand how great you are because of who you are, how you look or dress doesn’t seem to matter quite as much anymore.

What About You?

What about you?  Which of these killers are killing your confidence?

Do you feel suffocated by overprotective parents?

Do you feel overwhelmed by school stress?

Do you give in to negative peer pressure rather than stand up for yourself?

Do you feel invisible and unrecognized?

Do you have a low self-image?

No matter which killer is killing your confidence, you can overcome it.  To help, I want to give you three FREE gifts.  All these gifts are waiting for you at www.TheDreamDoers.com.  So click through now to claim your gifts.

And remember, you always find a way to do what you dream when you stick to your strengths.

This is one of my favorites because this verse inspired me to live my big dream of being a writer.

So what’s your favorite verse?  Why?  Please let me know in the comment section below!

Part of living with UNSTOPPABLE SUCCESS is learning how to make money.  Today, guest author Paul J. Martin gives you some ideas how to make money…even if you’re a kid.  Enjoy!

*******

It’s tough being a kid, and it’s even harder earning money as a kid. However, although there may be some small hurdles to overcome, it’s really not that tricky after all. In this article we aim to give you some ideas as to how you can overcome your ‘unfortunate’ position..

To get money as a kid may be a problem as there are not many things in your favor. The law is quite possibly the biggest hurdle. The law governs the employment of children and there may be several limitations imposed on you. Obviously it is specific to your country, but as a rule you can not be gainfully employed much before the age of about 15.

You see there are plenty of ways to gain a little extra cash and stay pretty much under the radar, one of my favourites being – how to make money using your computer. Nearly every home has a personal computer these days and it’s perfect for making some extra money and you don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home!

I think that being a kid is something not to get frustrated about but to revel in. After all you can go to school and have lots of great friends, you don’t have much responsibility, and above all you don’t HAVE to work, also you get lots of holidays. Trouble is, most things these days take MONEY and that is something that you don’t have as a child. Your earning power as a kid is very limited and only a small handful of extremely determined children actually manage to make any money as a child. Well, anything worth talking about that is.

So tell me how to make money as a child? There were lots of techniques for children to earn cash, but also there are a lot of variables to take into consideration. These include:

-your age is a big factor in any money as six-year-old is much more difficult than if you are a teenager.

-where your house is is a big factor and can really limit or influence your moneymaking abilities. As a child without transport it could be very difficult to get to where the money is if you live in a quiet area.

-other responsibilities. You may have to care for your parents or another family member, this will impact on your time and give you less opportunity to make money.

-if you have support from your parents think things are going to be considerably easier. If you are actively putting your self out to try and earn some extra income most parents will actually help you along your way and may even give you some encouragement in the form of some startup capital.

Here are some ideas to get you going.

  • Wash cars
  • Do household chores
  • Deliver flyers
  • Start blogging
  • Gardening
  • Paper round

There are many ways to earn money as a kid it’s just sometimes you have to think outside the box to get going.
