Your Mission: Find a Way to DO What You Dream Today
I did it! I hit my target today! I wrote 3,225 words and finished a very bad rough draft of the first half of my novel. And now that I have written something every day this week, I am gaining confidence in my ability to write.
I’m also gaining confidence in my ability to set and achieve my goals. That confidence is coming from taking a little bit of action every day toward my dreams.
It’s that taking action part that has always been a weakness of mine. You see, I have been a much better Dreamer than a Doer. I like to spend my time dreaming about what is possible and making plans to bring those dreams to life.
That is fun because I know and believe I am capable of making all my dreams come true. (By the way, YOU are capable of making your dreams come true, too!)
Actually doing something about those plans is another story. Which doesn’t really make much sense. I mean, I love to write, but I have gotten good at finding excuses to keep me from writing. Weird.
I guess I’m afraid that if I actually act on my plans, I might not be as successful as I dream about being. I might not live up to my own expectations and end up disappointed in myself.
Or I might look foolish to my family and friends for trying something and not getting the great results I want.
If I have a dream but don’t do anything about it, I can’t fail, right?
WRONG! Failing is in not even trying. As long as I am taking action toward my dreams, I am succeeding. Just like you succeed when you take action toward your dreams.
So am I going to let those silly fears keep me from being myself? Am I going to let those silly doubts keep me from doing what I love to do?
Nope. I’m going to do what I did this week. I’m going to keep dreaming about writing my second novel, and I’m going to keep doing something about that dream.
I’m going to be a Dream Doer every single day.
What about you? What little thing did you do today to bring you closer to your big dream?
To your dreams,
Bonnie Jean
