In chapter 11, Alex and Tyler play the first mission of The Champion Creator Game.

Playing the mission helps Alex figure out exactly what dreams she wants to do something about during the Rookie Season.  Then she has the confidence she needs to finally tell her mom about her big dream of playing in the tennis tournament.

Since the mission helped her so much, she wanted to you to play, too.  So I’ve included the details of the mission here:

Day 1

Integrity Mission:

Think About Who You Are Now and What You Want to Have on Day 90

 Details

Living with INTEGRITY starts by being HONEST with YOURSELF.  That means you need to be honest about who you are and what you feel about the results you’re getting in your life right now.  There is no right or wrong answer.  Nobody is going to check your work and give you a grade.  So just relax and complete the mission as honestly and truthfully as you know how.

STEP 1:  Fill out your personal scouting report.  Do this before you do anything else.  Write something down for each section even if you’re not quite sure if your answers are right.  Just write what you believe is true…because there are no right or wrong answers!

STEP 2:  Using the COMFORT ZONE RESULTS from your scouting report, give yourself a score between 1-10 (with 10 being FABULOUS! and 1 being MISERABLE) based on how you feel about your results in each area of your life:

_____ Spiritual Life

_____ Health/Fitness Level

_____ BIG DREAM

_____ School

_____ Relationships with Family and Friends

STEP 3:  Give yourself a score of 1-10 (with 10 being EXCELLENT! and 1 being NOT AT ALL), based on how well you are expressing these champion traits in your life right now:

_____ Integrity (Do you do what you say you will do?)

_____ Passion (Do you know what your dreams are and do you share your dreams?)

_____ Focus (Do you concentrate complete attention on one thing at a time?)

STEP 4:  Now that you’ve figured out where you are now, it’s time to set some targets for the Rookie season.  Although each area of your life is important, we’re just going to focus on setting BIG DREAM targets for the Rookie Season, which lasts 90 days.  If you’re not sure what your big dream is yet, that’s okay.  Just think about something FUN you want to accomplish by Day 30, Day 60 and Day 90.  You can set three completely different goals, or have one big goal broken into three smaller steps.

Either way, your goals—or BIG DREAM TARGETS—should challenge you to break out of your comfort zone.  Later, as you work your way through the mission, you’ll learn how to break down these 30, 60 and 90 day targets into weekly and daily goals.  Right now, just focus on the big picture.

This mission is about integrity, and that means you need to be honest with yourself.  So as you set your targets, ask yourself these questions:

  • What is something I can honestly do in the next 30 days?
  • What is something I can honestly do in the next 60 days?
  • What is something I can honestly do in the next 90 days?

This is important.  If you don’t know what your dreams are, you can’t do anything about them!  For example, this is what Alex wrote for her BIG DREAM targets:

Ultimate BIG DREAM:  Win a Gold medal in the Olympics

Day 30:  I want to scrimmage Alicia.

Day 60:  I want to play in the tennis tournament and win.

Day 90:  I want to join a tennis league.

And this is what Tyler wrote for his BIG DREAM targets:

Ultimate BIG DREAM:  Pitch for the Chicago Cubs

Day 30:  I want to pitch in an All-star game.

Day 60:  I want to pitch 50 strikes in a row.

Day 90:  I want to learn how to pitch a change-up.

Okay…it’s your turn!

YOUR Big Dream Targets

Ultimate BIG DREAM

Day 30:

Day 60:

Day 90:

Once you have your targets set, post them in a place you can see them everyday.  You can start by posting a comment so we call all see what your targets are!

And don’t forget to enjoy the story!

To your dreams,

Bonnie Jean

The best word that describes a CHAMPION DREAM DOER is CONFIDENCE.  When you are confident, you trust your instincts.  Trusting your instincts helps you make quick decisions, take action and defy Normalcy.

This confidence comes from being a person of great character.  People with great character know how to use their emotions and their minds to do things they dream.

That’s why Hector made up The Champion Creator Game; people who play the game develop the character traits of champions and gain the confidence they need to make their dreams come true.

Before you, Alex or Tyler can start to play the game, though, you have to know who you are now so you can figure out what you need to improve.

At the end of chapter 10, Hector sends Tyler and Alex away and tells them to fill out their scouting reports.

After you listen to chapter 10, it will be your turn to fill out your scouting report.  This isn’t something you’ll find in the book, so I’ve included it for you here.

Filling out your scouting report is the first step to revealing the CHAMPION in you.  The most important thing is to be HONEST about what you write.  Consider what you love to do, what you hate to do, what you’re good at and what you’re not so good at.

It’s okay to admit your weaknesses.  We all have them.  These are things you might like to do, but it’s hard and challenging.

What skills do you struggle to learn?

What experiences always seem to make you frustrated and disappointed?

What do you dread doing?

OR what do you enjoy doing but just can’t seem to get the hand of?

Those are your weaknesses.  Those are the things you need to avoid pursuing and focusing on (unless it’s a subject in school you don’t like; you must do your best in every class…that’s something you can’t avoid!)

It’s also okay to admit your strengths.  These are what make you special and unique.  These are the talents and abilities that will help you beat Normalcy.

A talent is something you’re naturally good at and love to do.  The more you practice it, the better and stronger you get in that particular area.

So what skills come so naturally to you that you assume everyone around you is just as good at it?  But in reality, you’re better than most people in that area?

Discovering just one core strength is enough to defy Normalcy and WIN…as long as you know what your weaknesses are and how to protect them.

If you find yourself stuck and don’t know what to write, have your family members or friends “scout” you.  They’ll probably be able to see strengths you’re not even aware of!

Scouting Report on ____________________________

Offense

These core strengths that come from your natural talents give you the competitive edge when fighting Normalcy.  These are the areas in which you can (and WANT to) achieve greatness.  It could be a subject in school, a sport you play or a hobby you have:

STRENGTH:  ___________________________________________________

STRENGTH:  ___________________________________________________

STRENGTH:  ___________________________________________________

Notes on Offensive Weapons

You improve these weapons when you develop the core characteristics of champions: integrity, passion, focus, consistency, energy, enthusiasm, leadership, discipline, creativity, wisdom, courage and strength.

By developing these characteristics, you can do great things with your natural talents.

Defense

Normalcy uses your weaknesses to overshadow your strengths.  Unless you are able to defend against them, these weaknesses keep you from using your strengths and doing what you dream.  For instance, if you are weak in a subject in school, you can defend against it by asking for help from the teacher, a tutor or a friend who is strong in that subject:

WEAKNESS: ___________________________________________________

How to Defend:  ______________________________________________

WEAKNESS: ___________________________________________________

How to Defend:  ______________________________________________

WEAKNESS: ___________________________________________________

How to Defend:  ______________________________________________

Notes on Defense

When you lower your defenses, Normalcy strikes.  He makes you think your weaknesses are your strengths, and that keeps you normal.

Your Comfort Zones

When you are living in your comfort zones, everything around you feels familiar and safe.  Normalcy wants to keep you feeling this way because that means you’re being normal.  So he makes trying new things feel unfamiliar and risky; that way you won’t want to follow your dreams.

And if you don’t know what your comfort zones are, you’ll remain stuck in them forever!  Also, you have different comfort zones for different areas of your life.  That means you need to identify your comfort zones in each area.  Then you’ll be ready to play The Champion Creator Game and break through your comfort zones one by one so you can do what you dream.

  • What is your SPIRITUAL COMFORT ZONE?  What things do you do now in your spiritual life that are safe and familiar (even if that means you don’t do anything that relates to your spiritual life)?

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  • What is your HEALTH COMFORT ZONE?  What things do you do now for your health that are safe and familiar (even if what you do isn’t very healthy, like eating lots of junk food)?

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  • What is your CHARACTER COMFORT ZONE?  What things do you do now that are FUN and let you use your talents (even if it means you avoid doing something you really love to do)?  ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  • What is your SCHOOL COMFORT ZONE?  What things do you do now in school that are safe and familiar (even if that means you’re not doing your very best in every class)? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  • What is your RELATIONSHIP COMFORT ZONE?  What things do you do now around your parents, sisters, brothers, friends, teachers, etc, that are safe and familiar (even if that means you don’t have great relationships with family, friends or teachers)? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

To break out of these comfort zones, you have face your fears and doubts, not wait for them to go away before taking action that will help you get what you really want.

You are only a champion as long as you are constantly facing your fears and breaking through your comfort zones.  The moment you stop taking action is the moment you stop living like a champion.

The Most Effective Strategy to Defy Normalcy

  • Play The Champion Creator Game to develop the traits of champions.

The Champion Creator Game begins for Tyler and Alex tomorrow.  And once you have your scouting report done, you’ll be able to play the first mission with them.

Until then, enjoy the story!

To your dreams,

Bonnie Jean
